It all begins somewhere
About Us
Mike Gallagher (Gal) and Jim Cormie (Cormie) were college roommates and fraternity brothers at San Diego State back in the day (late 80s). Road trips across the border to Rosarito Beach and Ensenada were a regular occurrence along with the annual trip to San Felipe and various spring break locations.
With college in the rear-view mirror (a terrible shame), both got married and started families. However, their calling to travel south of the border never let up. Fortunately for them, their wives (both very cool) had become close over the years and shared a reluctant tolerance for their regular trips south.
Fishing in Cabo on their buddy’s boat led to trying out the East Cape and eventually, several years of La Paz runs. For whatever reason they never tired of listening to the same old stories night after night as long as they made it home with a manageable sunburn and a cooler full of fish.
Years passed and careers matured. Gal built a successful Mortgage business in Morgan Hill and recently began publishing a popular online newsletter pertaining to real estate and finance. Cormie is a private jet broker to a lot of fancy people and has been developing partnerships and sales for luxury villa rental businesses in Cabo for the last few years out of his Orange County office.
And so, toward the end of 2022 a conversation happened. It went something like this:
Cormie, “Bro, you wouldn’t believe all the shit (real estate development, gourmet food scene, golf, luxury resorts) going on in and around Cabo these days. Baja is blowing up”.
Gal, “Nice! You ever thought about putting together a newsletter to keep people updated on all the new stuff?
Cormie, “Um… no. Do you know how to do that?”
Gal, “Yeah, I know how to do that”
Cormie, “I have a lot of great contacts down there”
Gal, “We would have to make a lot of trips down for research, etc.”
Cormie, “Yeah, I guess we would. I’m in”
Gal, “Me too”
And there you have it. Baja Buzz was born in November (ish) 2022. We are charging ahead to share the Buzz with as many like minded people as possible that love the best of Baja and want to stay on top of all that is going on.
